Molly Shortridge (B.M., Temple University), started out her music career as a music therapist and classical flutist but became enamored with Celtic music over the years. When the pandemic hit, she was able to spend more time delving into the genre and began collaborating with guitarist, Mike Morrison and “Across the Pond”.

As an owner of a music and arts center, “The Perfect 5th”and also “The Fluteplace of Central PA”, she maintains a large teaching studio. Molly has taught flute pedagogy seminars at national and regional conventions, and workshops in colleges.  She has also performed in orchestras, ensembles, and as a soloist, throughout central PA and Italy. Additionally, she is a published artist who specializes in flute related artwork.

In “Across the Pond”, you can find her playing an array of flutes; from the silver Boehm flute, a wooden 6-holed Celtic flute, whistles, alto flute, piccolo, and more.

Past performers

Chuck Krepley

;

Chuck was a valued founding member of the Across the Pond who played fiddle from 2010 through 2021.  We shared some really memorable moments together.

We wish Chuck all the best in the future, and you never know when he might pop back up on stage for a show.  You’ll likely continue to see him at Irish sessions in the region.  It has been a privilege to work with him all these years and wish him all the best.

Guests

We have had many guest performers and guests join us over the years, including Marilyn Dolly who sang on both of our first two CDs and joined us for a number of years at many shows; Emily Warren who danced many shows with us and did foot percussion on our last CD; Maddie Yingling, Dan's young granddaughter who performed off and on for a couple of years  and did backing vocals on the last CD; Bruce Young on fiddle and set dance calling; and Tommy Kochel & Tom Rowe filled in when Dan was recovering from a surgery.   We've had dancers from many dance schools in PA, MD & VA work with us, as well as a number of area Irish, bluegrass and Old Timey kinda musicians join us from time-to-time.
